Q & A
Why am I doing this?

I am an existing LiveJournal user who wants to express their belief and faith to anyone who cares to read it.

Why the lack of personal information?

Two reasons really.

Firstly, I think that if people knew who I was, I would receive a barrage of negative email about my views.

Secondly, Jesus said "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." (Matt 6:1-2)

For these reasons, I feel that by revealing who I am, I would be taking the focus away from the One who deserves it.

What is the point of this?

Good question! I simply want to share my experiences and beliefs with those who are prepared to listen and also anyone who wants to know more about God. I welcome all responses to what I say here, but be aware that all abusive or crass responses will be deleted.

Can I add you as a friend?

That is entirely up to you, but be aware that some people who read your friends postings might be offended or scared off by what I have written. Prejudice is rife in modern society, that is an unfortunate fact of life.

Would you add me as a friend?

I'd be happy to. Just ask by replying to a post.

I have many more questions!

I will be putting a facility on the LiveJournal to send me messages. Once that is in place, I will be happy to hear what you have to say.

Yours in Christ,

CoG <>

this afternoon, i was sitting in the bath and wondering why it is that so many people say that they don't like religion generally, and then go on to single out Christianity as the one they dislike. they never seem to mention any other religions. why this irrational hatred and singling out of Christianity? suggestions?

Richard,

Thank you for your comment, which I believe raises a very good point.

Unfortunately, I do not know why Christianity is the religion which is singled-out. Bearing in mind that the UK is primarily a Christian country (please don't anyone take offence by that comment), it's probably the one that springs to mind first when people are discussing it.

As to your comment regarding the "... irrational hatred ... of Christianity", I would say that rather than being a disliking or hatred, it's more a case of not understanding. From all the people I've spoken to about Christianity, it seems that they do not understand what it is, and how it affects peoples lives.

Forgive me plugging here, but if anyone out there is still at a loss as to what Christianity is, or what it means, then I would really recommend going to an Alpha course. You do not have to be a Christian to go to one, but it will answer many (if not all) of the questions you may have about it.

Visit The Alpha Website to find out where your local course is running. It costs nothing to attend, execpt that a donation towards the cost of the meal would be appreciated.

Richard, I hope this helps,

God bless,

Speaking as someone who has done an Alpha course -

I can say without a doubt that it is a *non* forceful approach to teaching about christianity... It doesnt focus on any particular branches of christianity either.

I am someone who was brought up in a Semi-Religious household, but I kinda lost faith for a few years - It wasnt until last year when I fell in love with someone who was v. comfortable with their religion that my eyes were reopened and I took the Alpha course too. Since then my faith has grown and it's been wonderful to share it with someone who also thinks the same way.

It wasn't until I met my fiance, and I found out that she had also lost her faith in the past, that it strengthened my own faith, and encouraged us both to recommit ourselves to God.

It really makes a difference to have someone around you who can help you, and that you can help - so, CM, I certainly agree on that point!

For many years, I didn't have the support and fellowship I needed, but my mother and fiance changed that... well He changed it, but they were such a big help!

well, i am basically a Christian...except i don't go to church much at all. i suppose you could say i've lost faith in the church but not in the Lord. i feel very sorry for people who get that the other way around. thank you for telling me about Alpha courses...i have actually been meaning to do one for a while now, except exams and so forth kept getting in the way. i know that the church my parents go to at least used to do the Alpha course. thank you for replying. i appreciate that. *hug*

Over three years since your first post, and the few comments than ensued...add me as your friend, if you'll continue to post in this LiveJournal? Blessings.

Thank you for your comment.

To be totally honest, I'd forgotten about this journal until your comment came through. It has been a while since I've posted here (if you can count 3 years as "a while"!) :)

I will endeavour to post here more often, and I will add you as a friend as soon as I get back online at home.

Yours in Christ,
